Recently, the Shenzhen Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau drafted the "Guidelines for Planning and Design of Bird-Friendly Cities (Draft for Comment)" and publicly solicited public opinions. Based on the key ecological characteristics of birds in Shenzhen and from the perspective of refined urban space control, the guidelines propose basic requirements and control plans for bird-friendly urban planning and design, which have important application value in improving the city's waterbird and migratory bird biodiversity protection capabilities. , which can provide specific support for various departments of Shenzhen City in the planning, design and management of bird-friendly cities.

Shenzhen is an important node in the global bird migration channel and an important wintering place and transfer station on the East Asia-Australia migratory bird migration channel. The area where the Futian Mangrove National Nature Reserve is located is the most important bird habitat in Shenzhen. , nearly 100,000 long-distance migratory birds stop here every year, and it is an important wintering place for the black-faced spoonbill, a globally endangered rare bird.

Following the technical path of "data sorting - research and analysis - impact assessment - strategy formulation", the guideline compilation project fully carried out data sorting of Shenzhen's bird ecology and migration activities, and carried out research on spatial location, habitats, bird behavior and key factors. Comprehensive research and technical analysis, evaluate the differential impact of different stages of urban development and construction on bird activities, and formulate bird-friendly standards in terms of spatial pattern, project height, building layout, facade design, landscape design, lighting and acoustic environment , etc. .

The guidance document clarifies the control objects and is suitable for guiding the construction of bird-friendly urban areas around the Futian Mangrove Nature Reserve, and can be used as a reference for urban construction outside other bird habitats. Specifically, in terms of height control, new facilities should be avoided within 50 meters of the coastline extending inland, except for municipal infrastructure, public service facilities, coastal protection projects and other necessary facilities related to public safety; in terms of facade design , it is advisable to reduce the use of glass curtain walls on building facades. If glass curtain walls cannot be avoided, they can be blocked, separated or marked, such as baffles, external grilles, bird anti-collision signs, etc. Trees are not used for anti-collision signs. , flower and grass patterns.

In terms of lighting design , the guidance document proposes to use roof and facade lights that reduce the building's light environment to create a dark environment on the building's facade, and use low-impact lights for high-rise buildings. At the same time, reduce the lighting brightness . Construction lighting facilities should give priority to blue lights, green lights, dark lights, intermittent lights, etc., and choose lamps that cover the light source or set up shields to reduce strong light and light encroachment. In addition, night lighting should not be installed in natural habitat areas of seaside and riverside spaces that are not open at night, and functional lighting will automatically turn off when no one is around.
